Wombwell Miner’s Death

An inquest was conducted at Wombwell yesterday, relative to the death of Fred Ambler (30), 28, Milton Street, Wombwell, who injured his head at the Wombwell Main colliery on March 3 last by running into an iron girder.

He recommenced work at the end of March, but later the woman became septic, and he died on Saturday last.

Dr Foley said that the only external injury was a wound on the left side of the head. The cause of death was pyemia, followed by pneumonia and syncope, a direct result of the wound.

A verdict in the cause of the medical evidence was returned by the Coroner, Mr C J Haworth.
